Mexico’s pipeline imports of U.S. natural gas should continue rising over the coming years even in the most conservative demand scenarios, experts agreed at the US-Mexico Natural Gas Forum.

Mexico is poised to play an increasingly prominent role in the global natural gas market, driven by internal demand and the LNG export projects planned for the country’s Pacific and Atlantic coasts.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) said last week it is awarding $14.8 million for projects that would improve natural gas and oil pipeline safety.
