In our continuing effort to stay ahead of the changes in physical flows of the North American natural gas market, Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI) is amending the spot market price tables that appear in NGI’s various data services by adding one (1) new location, making changes to three (3) existing indexes, and ceasing to publish thirteen (13) others. All changes, which were first proposed on Jan. 1, 2023, will go into effect April 1, 2023.

NGI has made a revision to our February 2023 Bidweek prices that affects the following locations:

• Chicago Citygate

• Chicago - Nicor Gas

• Chicago - NIPSCO

• Midwest Regional Avg.

The revised data was posted to web, API, FTP and PDF on the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 2 and we request that all clients rerun their import processes for the Feb 1 Bidweek issue to replace the prior data with corrected values.

Dear NGI Customers:

Some Daily Datafeed, Mexico Daily Datafeed and Shale Daily data customers that access data via API and/or FTP may have been unable to retrieve data for publication date Monday, June 6 because of an internal processing error. Our IT team has solved the problem, and you should now be able to access those data as normal.

To provide better conformity between our data series and as part of planned maintenance, NGI will change the names of six (6) locations in our Forward Look natural gas data service. The planned name changes are listed below.  For those referencing our price locations by way of the pointcode field (available via JSON format only), there should be no impact. However, for those using the XLS datafeed via API/FTP, there may be some changes necessary to reference the locations by their new names.

Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI), a leading Price Reporting Agency (PRA) covering the North American natural gas market since 1981, has successfully completed its annual audit for 2020 pertaining to the processes and procedures for compiling NGI’s Daily, Weekly and Monthly (Bidweek) natural gas price indexes.

Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI) is moving forward with some of the changes it proposed in February to better align with marketplace trends, which include shifting to a three-day bidweek trading period instead of the traditional five days in its bidweek determination period. NGI also is making a number of changes to its price index listings to keep pace with changes in the market and trading patterns.
