The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) expects to roll out changes to how spill reports are conveyed to the public within a year’s time amid renewed public scrutiny.

Tulsa-based Oneok Inc. is expanding its natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) infrastructure in North Dakota and West Texas with “low-cost, capital-efficient projects” that meet its customers needs, the company said Thursday.

Oneok Inc. plans to construct additional infrastructure to handle growing natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) volumes from its U.S. operations, including a fractionator in Texas, a gas processing facility to serve the Williston Basin and an NGL pipeline extension and expansion in the Midcontinent.

Oneok Inc.'s Stateline natural gas processing plant in Williams County, ND, has resumed full operations following a fire on July 8 that was confined to a single utility building. Fire erupted in the building tied to a 26,000 b/d de-ethanizer plant adjacent to the 200 MMcf/d processing plant. There were no reported injuries; the fire is under investigation. Stateline has been serving Bakken Shale operators since 2013.

The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) has given its approval to an application for one natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline and set a hearing to debate another later this month.

A Oneok spokesperson told NGI's Shale Daily the company is investigating the fire’s cause, which consumed about 900 acres before being brought under control. The incident had no impact on operations. Another fire reportedly resulted from target shooting, authorities said.
