Global LNG demand continued to expand last year amid a broader recovery in global natural gas consumption following the 2022 energy crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to Cedigaz. 

NO. 1: European natural gas prices continued to climb on Thursday, hitting a five-month high after Austria’s OMV AG warned earlier in the week of potential disruptions to Russian gas supplies.

The European Union (EU) this week adopted new market rules for natural gas and hydrogen that allow member countries to essentially ban the import of Russian LNG.

FERC Chairman Willie Phillips recently told lawmakers that an extended analysis of the proposed CP2 LNG facility’s air emissions was prolonging the regulatory review of the project.

Global natural gas prices were stable Monday as the market weighed easing supply constraints against forecasts for hotter weather in parts of the northern hemisphere and continued geopolitical tensions.

State-owned Saudi Arabian Oil Co., better known as Aramco, is working to secure LNG supply contracts for global trading as it continues to build on a strategy aimed at moving into the world’s natural gas market.
